Vindskydd Vindbåken Holmöarna

The windbreak was built by students at the Umeå School of Architecture, and its design is inspired by an old navigational aid, a beacon.

There is space to spend the night on a sleeping pad. You can enjoy a view of the sea through a hinged hatch on the side or by climbing up a level inside the wind shelter

The wind beacon illustrates land uplift through its different roof levels. The top of the wind shelter is at the same level as the sea was when people first settled on Holmön, and each roof level represents 100 years of land uplift.
