Rastplats Slättö

The Slättö rest area is located along Storån canoe trail. Here you can
launch and retrieve canoes and there are also picnic tables, wind shelters and
a barbecue area. Bring your own firewood and something to light it. The rest
area can also be used by those who are not canoeing!

Here
there is open cultural landscape characterised by pastures, ancient remains and
well-preserved old farms. Adjacent to the rest area is Slättö Sand, ‘Småland’s
Sahara’, which is one of Sweden’s largest inland drift sand fields. The area
has great geological and botanical values. Keep an eye out for the crested newt
and pasqueflower and listen for the nightjar singing during the summer nights!
