Vänsö naturreservat

North of Tyrislöt you will find Vänsö nature reserve with its four islands and associated islets and skerries. The reserve offers a piece of valuable archipelago nature with varied habitats and historical use by man. Stop at Djurholmen-Enskär and wander around the pine forest with both younger and older pines. The western part of the island is very rich in dead wood, which creates the conditions for an exclusive beetle fauna with several endangered species. Make your way over to the islands Fyrholmen and Kättelskär, which bear clear traces of previous cultural influences. On Fyrholmen you will find a dozen large hollow lime trees that were felled about 40 years ago. These are home to a rich lichen flora. The former forest grazing on Kättelskär is evident in that the pine forest has plenty of grassy glades and large trees with coarse, splayed branches. You can reach the reserve by boat or kayak
