Nyfors

With its five-meter drop, the rapids in Nyfors is one of the highest rapids in the county. The water that runs through the rapids comes from Lake Tyresö-Flaten, which has its outlet in Lake Albysjön here. Tyresö-Flaten has been described as one of Stockholm's most beautiful lakes and between November and March, according to birdwatchers, you should be able to find the little common tern, which is otherwise mostly found in the north. Also keep an eye out for beavers, which like to nest in the corners.

The place used to be called Wättingeströmmen and, like Follbrinksströmmen and Uddbyfallet, has been an important industrial area for several centuries. Gustav Vasa built a gunpowder mill here in the 16th century and since then the power of the water has been used for hammer forges, a gunpowder mill, a weaving mill, a rolling mill and a paper mill.

The trail continues on the footbridge over the stream. In the middle of the bridge you have an extension that provides a nice view of the rushing water. The road then goes out of the nature reserve and into a residential area along the paved road Nyforsvägen. At the junction, turn right onto the road of the same name.
