Ytterby gruva

By car: From Stockholm: Take the E18 towards Norrtälje. Exit at exit 185 towards Vaxholm and drive for about 15 km. Follow the sign for Resarö. After about 2 km, you'll come to an ICA store. Turn right onto Ytterbyvägen road. Drive for about 1 km to Ytterbyvägen 65. You have arrived! Take the wooden stairs up to the mine.

By public transit: By bus: Take bus 670 from Tekniska högskolan in Stockholm. Get off at the Engarn bus stop and change to bus 680 or 682 and get off at the Ytterby bus stop. The journey takes about 4 minutes. From there, walk east along Ytterbyvägen road until you reach Ytterbyvägen 65, about 1 km. Here, you will find a steep wooden staircase on the left. Take the stairs up to the mine.

By boat: Ferries operate infrequently between Vaxholm to Ytterby gruva (the ferry stop closest to the mine); check with Waxholmsbolaget for current timetables. From the Ytterby gruva pier, turn left onto Ytterbyvägen road and walk about 150 meters. Take the wooden stairs up to the mine.

In order to protect the Bogesundslandet nature reserve, please respect the following rules.

Within the reserve, it is forbidden to:

1. destroy or damage rock, soil or stone by drilling, cutting, blasting, carving, digging, painting or similar,
2. break branches, fell or in any other way damage living or dead trees and bushes or damage the vegetation in general by digging up plants,
3. bring dogs that are not on a leash,
4. camp for more than two consecutive nights outside of designated campsites,
5. park a motorhome, caravan or other camping vehicle outside of designated campsites,
6. anchor a boat at the same beach for more than two consecutive nights,
7. make a fire outside of designated sites,
8. put up signs, posters or similar,
9. bike outside of designated bicycling trails while cycling off road,
10. ride horses off road or outside of designated horse trails.
