The reserve includes the two islands of Långholmen and Käringö and their environments consist of mixed forest with elements of coarse and old trees. There are deciduous trees such as maple, oak and ash.

The reserve is located in Lidöfjärden, directly east of Vätö and is best reached by boat.
Forskrifter
To protect Långholmen-Käringö nature reserve, there are rules you must follow. In the reserve it is forbidden to
- digging, hacking, drilling or otherwise damaging rock, soil or stone
- cut down or damage living or dead trees or bushes
- damage vegetation by digging up plants, or removing mosses, lichens or woody fungi.
