The area around the lakes Träsksjön and Transjön in the heart of Södertörn offers hilly and wild woodlands, despite the fact that a lot has been felled here. The abundance of marshes, swamp forests and rocky areas gives nature an untouched impression. Here you can get acquainted with birds such as capercaillie, black grouse, crane, goshawk and skylark. In some places there are areas of forest that have not been felled, where several red-listed species of fungi, mosses and insects have managed to survive. Don't names like green shield moss, crystal tick, and bronze speckled beetle sound fanciful? They're all here. You can also pick berries and edible mushrooms in peace and quiet. You can take a refreshing swim in the clear Transjön.

Commuter train towards Nynäshamn, get off at Hemfosa. The easiest way to reach the area by car is either via a parking lot along Hemfosavägen south of Transjön or via Gruwegården north of Träsksjön. At Gruwegården there are parking facilities but no official parking. The Sörmlandsleden trail runs through the western part of the area, otherwise there are almost no trails. However, there are some forest roads that are mainly closed to car traffic.
