Beskrivelse
Askö is perhaps best know for its long sandy beach and the marine research center, but the island is large and has varied nature. Here you can find the most valuable forest pasture of the county, coastal meadows as well as several rare insects and bird species. Askö is a nature reserve and large parts of the island is also a Natura 2000 area.
On the southern part of Askö there is a military firing range where special regulations apply.
