Väsby

Väsby's beautiful oak grove on the shores of Lake Öljaren is an easily accessible area with old oaks that create shade and character. Visitors can enjoy a rich floral display of daisies, primroses, meadowsweet and spring flowers such as bluebells and lilies of the valley. A picnic under the oaks in September, when the meadowsweet is in bloom, is a pleasant experience. From Väsby nature reserve it is also close to Julita farm and its attractions.

The biodiversity of the oaks is impressive, with over 500 species dependent on the oak as a host tree. In Väsby Nature Reserve, you can find wood fungi such as the white oak tick, oak tick and oxeye fungus, as well as unusual insects such as the oak splinter beetle and the large hornets' nest. The rare leatherback beetle can also be found here, and its presence is indicated by the characteristic droppings in hollow trees. The oaks create a unique environment for many species, making every visit an opportunity for new discoveries.
