Handlinger
Beskrivelse
The Skinsagylet nature reserve consists of a steep crevice valley on the northern part of Ryssberget. From a viewpoint, you have a mile-wide view of Pukavik Bay. You can also enjoy the untouched beech and hornbeam forest. The reserve has large differences in altitude and a very steep slope. The area is hiking-friendly with a 2.5 kilometer hiking trail.
The western slope down to Lake Skinsagylet is very steep and overgrown with beech and hornbeam. The large height differences between the crest of the mountain and the bottom of the valley and the amount of huge boulders give a powerful impression. Skinsagylet borders the Djupadal nature reserve on the Skåne side.
Urberg ridge and lake
Ryssberget consists of a bedrock ridge and there are clear traces of the inland ice. Northwest of the lake the slope is very steep. The highest point in the reserve is 125 meters above sea level, while Lake Skinsagylet is 50 meters above sea level.
Skinsagylet, which is 2 hectares in size, is one of Ryssberget's few lakes. The water in the lake has a very short residence time, which means that the inflow and outflow to the lake is very large. In just two to three weeks, all the water is replaced. Along the edge of the lake there are parts of the rockery. Among other things, white moss, sedges, cranberries, reed canary grass and marsh violet grow here. In the water, you will find rushes, white water lily, water clover and water lily.
Untouched forest
Large parts of the forest in Skinsagylet have been left untouched for a long time. Here, hornbeam forest grows on the lower part of the slope with elements of oak and beech. The upper part of the slope is covered with beech forest.
The natural forest is home to a large number of beetle species and wood-living fungi. Birds that can be spotted in the reserve include the stone curlew, skylark, green wren, blackbird and woodcock. Mallards and teals nest in the lake. A number of small marshes with alder contribute to a high level of biodiversity in the area.
