Walking, orienteering, scouting, search dog training and cycling. Saxtorpsskogen is a very popular hiking area that is used extensively. The forest is criss-crossed by a large number of paths of varying lengths. Here you will find bilberries, lingonberries, heather and many different mosses, but also unusual coniferous forest plants such as linnea and yarrow.

Forest against sand drift

The land consists of nutrient-poor sandy soils, which were open grasslands until the mid-to-late 19th century. To limit sand drift, large parts of the area were planted with pine. The pine forest that remains today may be over 100 years old. Over time, the forest has developed from coniferous forest to increasingly mixed forest.

The jewel of the coniferous forest

The flora is quite varied and is affected by the nutrient-poor substrate. Here you will find bilberries, lingonberries, heather and many different mosses, but also unusual coniferous forest plants such as linnea and yarrow. In the open and sunlit areas of the forest to the east, there are small areas of dry meadow plants. Here you can get acquainted with the unusual plant heath flower.

Wildlife corridor

Outdoor life

The area is very popular for walking, exercise, orienteering, scouting, search dog training and cycling. The forest is crossed by a large number of trails of varying lengths (0.5 to 5 km). The Skåneleden trail (SL5 Öresund, stage 9) runs through the forest and there are shelters adjacent to the trail. Remember to take your rubbish home. Two short trails are aimed at children, the fairy tale trail and the tree trail. They are widely used by schools and nurseries as well as by private individuals.

Parking spaces are available at Hagensvägen, Sjögårdsvägen and on Scoutvägen. The nearest bus stop is Saxtorp Hagensvägen. It is also possible to walk via Skåneleden from Häljarp's Pågatågs station.
