Beskrivelse

This is an excellent location for birdwatchers. The meadow and reed areas at the mouth of the Lödde River have a valuable breeding bird fauna, including oystercatchers, spoonbills, brown harriers, water rails, lapwings, red-legged kittiwakes and bearded tits. There is both a bird tower and a platform in the southern part Link to another website. while the northern part is a little more difficult to access. In the southern part there is also a walking trail with fireplaces along the way. In the sea outside the mouth of the Löddeån river lies Lödde kar, the remains of a port facility from the Viking Age where as much as 30 meters is visible above the water surface.

News - more birds with increased monitoring

Increased surveillance has led to fewer people staying in no-entry areas and more birds successfully nesting. In nature reserves such as the Löddeån estuary, access is prohibited during spring and early summer so that the area's ground-nesting birds are not scared away from their eggs and chicks. Despite this, people have stayed here to fish, watch birds or walk their dogs. With increased supervision and fines of up to SEK 10,000, awareness of the trespassing ban has increased and spread, which has positive effects on wildlife.

Valuable bird area all year round

The meadow and reed areas at the mouth of the Lödde River have a valuable breeding bird fauna, including oystercatchers, spoonbills, brown harriers, water rails, lapwings, redshanks and bearded tits. To the north of the river, in some years, avocets, greater sandpipers and little terns also breed. In the fall, a large number of plovers, geese and ducks rest in the area, as well as many snipe and curlews. Snow buntings and winter wrens are often seen in winter.

Well-grazed meadows and dense reed beds

The flat grazed coastal meadows contain salt and freshwater wet meadows alternating with dry meadow vegetation. The reed beds south of the river, together with the pastures, create a variation that provides conditions for the varied bird fauna.

When the waterways were the main trade routes

In the sea outside the mouth of the Löddeån river lies Lödde kar, the remains of a stone and timber structure measuring 160 by 8 meters. Lödde kar has been dated to the late Viking Age, around 950-1100, and is believed to have been used as a harbor. It is likely that large, deep-draught ships were reloaded here into smaller boats for further transportation up the Lödde River. About 30 meters of the Lödde tub is visible above the water surface.

Outdoor life

The two reserves Löddeån estuary north and southern part Link to another website. are a good birdwatching location for birdwatchers. There is both a bird tower and a platform in the southern part, while the northern part is a little more difficult to access. In the southern part there is also a walking path with fireplaces along the way. It is important to note that access to parts of the reserves is prohibited during spring and summer. It can be difficult to get between the northern and southern parts easily. If you want to walk between the reserves, it is possible to follow Skåneleden (SL5 Öresund, stages 10 and 11) which runs just outside the area. By following Skåneleden further north you will also reach the nature reserve Salvikens strandängar Link to another website.. There are several parking lots in both the northern and southern parts. The nearest bus stop is Bjärred Trollsjövägen, which is a couple of hundred meters from the southern part of the reserve. Remember to take your rubbish home.
