Beskrivelse

The northern slope of Linderödsåsen is a large beech forest reserve north of Linderöd. The species richness is great among beetles, fungi and lichens. Oxtung mushrooms, bronze mushrooms and giant spiders are examples of rare fungi in the wooded slopes. The northern slope of Linderödsåsen also boasts the bat barbastelle and one of Skåne's largest populations of the exclusive lichen lungwort. The clean waters of Vramsån also offer a sanctuary for the otherwise rare mussels pearl mussel and thick-shelled mussel.

Beech forest with rich fungal flora

In the northwestern parts around Äsphult, you are met by a nutrient-poor beech forest that in the spring is covered with white anemones. The fungal flora is even richer with species such as oxtongue mushroom, bronze mushroom and giant spider. From Råbockarp in the middle to Olarp in the south, the availability of nutrients increases, which is reflected in a different vegetation. Oak, hornbeam, lime, maple and hazel are becoming more common. Here you can see flowers such as woodland chickweed, yellow thistle, toothwort and hollow helleborine.

Exclusive species such as lungwort and barabella

Water seeps through the wooded slope. Small streams form in many places, giving the forest an even and high level of moisture. This moisture favors mosses and lichens. The exclusive lichens noble lichen, beech spring lichen and pink lichen can be seen on older trees. There is also one of Skåne's largest populations of lung lichen. The forest is also home to rare bats. Species that have been found are

barbastelle and fringed bat.

Exciting swamp forest

For those who enjoy searching among fallen trees in wet areas, the swamp forest areas are an experience. Here the forest has developed freely for a long time. It consists mostly of alder mixed with birch, ash and oak.

The clean water of Vramsån

Vramsån flows through the reserve. The river is one of the cleanest and most valuable waterways in Skåne. It is home to no less than seven different species of large mussels, including the critically endangered species pearl mussel and thick-shelled mussel. Kingfishers look for food in Vramsån and probably nest in the area.

Outdoor life

The reserve is located on the slope of Linderödsåsen, north of the community of Linderöd. There are no hiking trails. Parking is available at Olarp and Råbockarp. Please note that the nature reserve cannot be reached via Bagaretorpsvägen in the southeast.

Welcome to Linderödsåsens nordsluttning Nature Reserve

The Nature Reserve provides walking in the traditional grazing areas associated with the village of Olarp. This is where the cows were put out to pasture in the woodlands and the pigs wandered freely on the hunt for beech nuts, fungi, larvae and voles, which made them fat and gave the pork flavor. Today the wild boars (Sus scrofa) enjoy the beech nuts.

In the forest the soil is quite rich in nutrients and the herb flora is abundant. Species such as coral root (Cardamine bulbifera) grow in the hazel woods. On quite old trees and dead beech trunk, the rare coral tooth fungus (Hericlum coralloides) has been found. Here you can walk on the old country lane.

The woodland carr area is an experience for those of you who like to find your way through fallen trees in wet areas. The woodland here has been left untouched for a long time. It mainly consists of black alder mixed with birch, ash and oak.

A part of the River Vramsån is included in the nature reserve. The river is one of the cleanest and most valuable water courses in Skåne. It is the focus of a restoration program and is included in a Natura 2000 site. The freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritefera margaritefera) is found in the river, the larvae of which parasitize the common minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus). Both species require very high water quality.

Regulations

The regulations which apply in the reserves are set out on the notices displayed at the entrances and in swedish on this web page.
