Skåda fågel!
Var ska jag skåda? Måste kikaren kosta tjugo tusen kronor? Hur skiljer jag på alla…
Naturreservat
Kungsmarken
lies just a stone’s throw to the east of Lund. The area is popular due to the
historical attractions, beautiful landscape, and a rich biodiversity. There is
also a golf course which has been here since the 1930s and which is managed
using ecological methods, to favour biodiversity.
Iron Age
graves in the area indicate that Kungsmarken has been used by people for at
least 2500 years. The area has historically been used mainly as hay meadows and
pastures for horses. The remains of a castle, Glumstorp, can be seen to the
north-west of the lake. The castle was apparently built by the Archbishop of
Lund in the Middle Ages.
It is precisely
the long tradition of hay cutting and grazing which has made Kungsmarken so
rich in species. Several hundred plant species, many of which are rare and
red-listed, are found in the area. Plants such as bugle, keeled garlic, the
sedge Carex hartmanii and fragrant orchid are just a few of the species
that can be found in the meadows by the golf course. More common species such
as cowslip and wood anemone also contribute to the floral display. The rich
flora of the meadows also provides an important resource for insects.
If you take
your car you can park at Lund’s Akademiska Golf Club.
