Humlarödshus fälad, Naturreservat

Humlarödhus fälad is one of the most beautiful pastures on Romeleåsen. Here you can enjoy a diversity of plants and animals, characterized by a thousand-year tradition of grazing. The view of Vombsänkan is fantastic in clear weather. The Skåneleden trail passes through this bushy pasture and a bit further away is the cultural reserve Kulturens Östarp.

Humlarödhus fälad is a remnant of a historic and extensive grazing landscape. A large number of plants and animals live here. Many of them are rare, as grazed pastures have become increasingly uncommon. Sedge, stonewort, ground thistle and haymaking butterfly are just a small selection of the diversity you can experience. The calcareous pasture also grows St. Peter's keys, a large orchid that blooms as early as May.

In the Humlarödshus field you can also find several bird species that are linked to the open landscape, such as the common shrike, yellowhammer, Eurasian warbler and hobby.

Belongs to Kulturen i Lund

The land in the reserve is owned by Kulturen i Lund, an open-air museum founded in 1892 on the initiative of local history researcher Georg Karlin. Through a generous donation, Karlin was able to buy the Östarp farm with the Humlarödhus field in the 1920s. Östarp's buildings became another museum, Kulturens Östarp Opens new window. The popular excursion destination, located 2.5 km northeast of the reserve, was inaugurated in 1924.

Outdoor life

Along the eastern part of Humlarödshus fälad runs Skåneleden (SL2 north to south, stage 19). It is also possible to walk freely in the area and enjoy the landscape, the flowers and the view. The area is grazed, so avoid dogs among the grazing animals.

There is a small parking lot in the southwest corner of the reserve. Remember to take your rubbish home. The nearest bus stop is Dörröd S, about 2.5 km west. From the bus stop you can follow Skåneleden to the nature reserve. On the way you will also pass Romeleåsen golf club with restaurant.
