Björka fälads naturreservat

The Björka fälad nature reserve consists of pastures with different origins. The northern part is a remnant of the meadows and grazing lands that long characterized the Helsingborg landscape. Its stony ground, varied trees, and shrubs give the area its character and high natural values.

The old northern pasture is rich in oak, birch, wild apple, hazel, hawthorn, roses, and other shrubs and trees. The flora is typical of lean, unfertilized pasture, with species such as harebell, lady's bedstraw, mountain everlasting, and common milkwort. Old trees host a few rare, red-listed wood-dwelling insects and fungi. Nesting birds include blackcap, chiffchaff, greenfinch, robin, dunnock, pied flycatcher, and icterine warbler.

New nature areas have been established on former farmland, linking the Väla skog nature reserve with the old Björka fälad. Noise barriers along Ängeholmsleden and Kanongatan reduce disturbance in these areas, where wetlands have been created and trees and shrubs planted. The reserve's vision is a pasture rich in bushes and trees.

Visitors may walk around the enclosures or through them on the animals' terms. Pets must always be kept on a leash year-round to avoid disturbing grazing animals and wildlife. A rest area with benches and tables is located by the wetland near the Kanongatan parking lot, with a simpler seating area outside the enclosure in the northern part. Welcome!
