Beskrivelse

The Trystorp Oak Meadow Nature Reserve is part of one of the county's largest contiguous broadleaf forests. It is land that has been used by our ancestors for hundreds of years. Animals have grazed here. The meadows have been cut to provide hay, and in several places in the reserve there have been small fields.

Rich flora under the oaks

Several hiking trails run around the area. Many informative signs along the paths tell about the flowers and trees found in the reserve. It will be an educational hike for many. Under the oaks, wood anemones cover the ground in spring. This is also where the lungwort has one of its main occurrences in the county. Other plants that grow in the grove are bilberry, witch hazel, spring pea, wood sorrel, hazel bell, soapwort, fern and lily of the valley.

Park creepers

Many plants have also spread from the plantations that have existed since the 17th century at Trystorp farm. The most eye-catching is the sun star, a meter-high plant with sunflower-like flowers. Other park creepers include columbine, bellflower, wood lily, woodland forget-me-not and park mulberry.

Birdsong

Many birds thrive in the old oaks, such as great and lesser spotted woodpeckers, green woodpeckers and skylarks. Barn owls and wood pigeons are other nesting species, as are stone curlews, bees and nuthatches. Lesser flycatchers are also sometimes heard in the area. "Gökotta" is a classic program item for many nature conservation associations. Trystorp's oak meadow is perfect for this. An early morning with a packed lunch is usually accompanied by several cuckoos calling from the surrounding area.

Huge oaks

It is the large oaks that give the area its name, but an equally remarkable feature of the tree population is the large lime trees. The oak population in the area is not as large as it used to be, as evidenced by several old stumps. The largest oak is found in the center of the area. It measures more than 5.5 meters in circumference and is over 400 years old.

Old cultural landscape

The area is a deciduous wooded hillside made up of moraine material with plenty of large stones on the surface. Trystorp's oak meadow is part of an old cultural landscape where the many cultivation cairns now provide the clearest traces of past agricultural labor.

Management of the nature reserve

In order to maintain the character of the area, it is managed according to a management plan established by the County Administrative Board. The reserve is divided into several smaller management areas with management measures specified for each area. The goal for the dense grove area adjacent to the parking lot is free development towards broadleaf forest with undisturbed competition between shrubs and trees. Only the paths will be cleared here. For other management areas, the measures usually include continuous thinning and annual mowing of open areas.

Accessibility

The parking lot is easy to access with a wheelchair. There is also an information board, a picnic table adapted for wheelchairs and a spacious toilet that is easily accessible by wheelchair (open all year round). A 400-meter-long paved path runs through the oak meadow. The path is hilly and starts with a small hill. If you are in a wheelchair, you may need some help for the first 50 meters. Along the path there are 3 picnic tables adapted for wheelchairs. The adapted picnic tables can accommodate 2 people with wheelchairs at each end and 4-6 people sitting along the long sides of the tables.

Voices from visitors

In Trystorp's oak meadow there has been a guestbook since 2015, here are some excerpts from it:

Lovely walk in the spring sun. The bluebell out in the slopes stands niger and says that soon it's spring. A wonderfully peaceful place.

2015-03-27

Hi my name is Alexandra. I love this nature. Especially the hollow tree.

2015-04-21

A warm and sunny spring day. Wood anemones and bluebells are in full bloom, the birds are singing. 17 degrees.

2015-05-02

Birds chirping and an abundance of anemones. What does it matter that the rain hangs in the air. It's beautiful May anyway!

2015-05-06

Birdsong, oaks, anemones - sigh! So beautiful. We will come here more times.

2015-05-16

No school today for Ida and me. The family made an excursion here to this beautiful place. We are now going to eat lunch in the sunshine.

2015-07-16

Today we were fighting with the mosquitoes.

2015-08-20

Hello hope. The oak meadow is nice, it gives us a big smile.

I thought I saw some bees, but I think it was a pig.

The trees are big, as big trees tend to be.

But it's okay, because we're done now.

2016-02-28

Sun and birds chirping! First trip of the year here with the family. There will be many more!

2016-05-04

2016-05-18

Lilies of the valley in bud, so beautiful and the cuckoo wails all the time.
