Beskrivelse
On
Storberget, the spruce forest develops at its own pace, guided by natural
processes that create habitats for various species. After a major fire in 1868
that nearly wiped out all vegetation, a new forest emerged, dominated by spruce
and hardwood trees like glass birch and willow.
Today, internal dynamics play a
crucial role, where dying trees create openings for new seedlings to grow.
Below the slopes of the mountain, open wetlands provide habitats for typical
taiga birds such as the black grouse and the hawk owl.
The dead wood in the
forest, formed when trees are attacked by fungi, becomes an important habitat
for many rare and red-listed species of wood-decomposing fungi.

Veibeskrivelse
The nature reserve is located about 15 km
southeast of the village of Mellanström in the southeastern part of Arjeplog
municipality. There is no road leading directly to the reserve. From the E45
highway, you can reach the reserve by turning north at Slagnäs, and after about
20 km, turning left onto road 613.
At Tallås, take a right (north) onto road
614 and follow this road until you reach the exit road to the small village of
Skoglund, which is located about 350 meters east of the nature reserve.
Forskrifter
The following activities are permitted:
- Camping
- Hiking
- Picking berries and edible mushrooms
- Making a fire (remember to bring your own firewood!)
- Driving snowmobiles on well-covered snow
- Fishing and hunting in accordance with applicable laws
It is not permitted to harm plant and animal life. Remember the right of
public access and take care of nature!
