Rödbergsfortet – En del av Bodens Fästning

The road that takes you up to Rödberget is a small serpentine road, winding and narrow and partially embedded in the mountain.

Don't worry about encounters. Traffic coming down from the mountain follows a different route. Instead, enjoy the journey up and imagine the people who worked here, defending the country and one of the greatest defense secrets in Sweden's modern history. When you get to the top of the mountain, you'll find the marketenteri, the restaurant of the time, from which the guided tour starts. The tour takes you from the marketentery, into the moat and then deep into the mountain and the caverns there, to then end up on the top of the mountain.

The fort functioned as a small community and those who lived and worked there were able to survive without contact with the outside world for a long period of time. In Rödbergsfortet you will find all the furnishings and equipment left, showing how the fort was used in everyday life and how it was meant to function in battle.
