Lomontisuando is perhaps an unknown gem in Gällivare municipality. Here you will find a demo area for ReBorN LIFE (Restoration of Boreal Nordic Rivers), which is a collaborative project aimed at restoring the natural environment in watercourses affected by former timber floating in Norrbotten and Västerbotten. The project will benefit the diversity of aquatic animals and plants.
On site there is a shelter with benches and a barbecue area in the middle. There are also tables with benches and a picnic area next to the shelter. A bit into the forest you will find an outhouse and a log cabin. Take the time to read the information boards or buy a fishing license and try your luck in the river (info is posted on the shelter)

Difficulty: easy terrain: There is a road to the rest area. At the exit from Koskivaaravägen the road is narrow and partly bumpy. Grass area around tables, benches and barbecue area. Forest path leads to the picnic hut and outhouse. Suitable for the whole family

Veibeskrivelse
Drive towards Nattavaara via road 822. When you have passed the entire village and the gravel road takes over, turn left towards the Arctic Circle and Koskivaara. Once you have passed Koskivaara, you have about 5 km before you reach your destination. The exit to the rest area is not marked, but you can see the information boards and the wind shelter a bit into the forest on your left. The rest area is nicely located at the edge of the Råne River.
