Beskrivelse
A trail which in places is poorly marked leads up Jomotusvaara mountain, and at the summit you have a fine view of the landscape towards the west. You can also drive in east of the reserve and walk up to the mountain from there. In the northern part there is there has long been a bathing site. The area is 7.3 square kilometres in size.

Makkarajärvi lies about 20 kilometres northwest of Övertorneå. From Övertorneå drive along the road towards Korpilombolo, and the reserve lies on the right. From Korpilombolo it is about 34 kilometres to the reserve.

Makkarajärvi is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Övertorneå. Take the road from Övertorneå towards Korpilombolo, after 20 kilometers you will see the reserve on the east side of the road. From Korpilombolo it is about 34 kilometers to the reserve.
Forskrifter
All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:
- hiking - camping - driving snowmobiles on snow-covered ground - making fires - picking berries and edible mushrooms - fishing and hunting in accordance with the laws in force
Please note that it is not allowed to:
- driving watercraft - damaging plant and animal life
