Beskrivelse
Junkerkölens Nature Reserve is a fascinating place where sloping deciduous coniferous forests meet the meandering Mjövattenbäcken, creating a high level of humidity in the area. From the steep sides of Mount Junkerkölen, visitors can enjoy a stunning view of Lake Junkerträsket. This area is home to a diverse array of rare species, making it a true natural gem.
In the reserve, named after the impressive mountain, you can discover a rich flora and fauna. The trees are adorned with knotted blue lichen and lungwort, and you may also spot signs of beavers and the three-toed woodpecker. In the southeastern part of the reserve, a steep cliff drops down the side of Junkerkölen, where the alpine catchfly, typically found in the mountains, blooms.
The Mjövattenbäcken flows through the area and is part of the Pite River system, which previously featured a dam that has now been removed, adding to the natural feel of this beautiful landscape.

Veibeskrivelse
The nature reserve is located approximately 37 km west of Boden. From Boden, drive along road 97 and turn off towards Bodträskfors. Shortly after, take a left onto the road to Björkberg. After 20.5 km, having passed Lake Yttre Mjövattnet on your left, turn left onto a forest road. Cross a bridge and then keep right at the intersection until you reach a turnaround area. The nature reserve is now located on both sides of the turnaround.

- Make a
fire (remember to bring your own firewood!)
- Ride
snowmobiles on well-covered snow
- Fish and
hunt in accordance with applicable laws
It is not
permitted to harm plant and animal life. Remember to respect the right of
public access and take care of nature!
