Beskrivelse
The
Åssjeape nature reserve offers a beautiful mosaic of ancient coniferous
forests, small tarns, and wetlands, with traces of wildfires visible throughout
the area.
he nature here closely resembles that of the nearby Muddus National
Park, featuring pines that are nearly 300 years old, along with a rich presence
of dead dry pines and fallen tree giants.
Fires have shaped the landscape,
allowing deciduous trees like birch, aspen, and willow to thrive where light
can reach the ground. In the pine forest, rare fungi such as the shaggy
polypore and the fragrant polypore can be found, the latter emitting a
delightful scent of almond and lily flower when conditions are right.
For those
visiting Åssjeape, a unique experience awaits, showcasing both the beauty of
nature and the presence of rare species.

Veibeskrivelse
The nature reserve is located about 30 km
northeast of Jokkmokk and approximately 6 km west of Urtimjaur. The reserve can
be accessed from the south via a forest road from Urtimjaur.
From Urtimjaur,
turn north from road 820. After about 4 km, turn south/left just before the
start of the Muddus Trail at Lijnávárre. The nature reserve is situated west of
the road after approximately 10 km.
Forskrifter
The following activities are permitted:
- Camping
- Hiking
- Picking berries and edible mushrooms
- Making a fire (remember to bring your own firewood!)
- Driving snowmobiles on well-covered snow
- Fishing and hunting in accordance with applicable laws
It is not permitted to harm plant and animal life. Remember the right of
public access and take care of nature!
