Beskrivelse
The 32-hectare area has been protected since 1952 and became a nature reserve in 1996. Svartebro is located in Ljungby municipality at the outlet of the Murån into Lake Bolmen, and the reserve is home to one of the county’s oldest primeval forests.
The largest part of the area, 26 hectares, is peatland, and 6 hectares are primeval forest. The at least 200-year-old forest consists of pine and spruce, as well as many dead trees, which benefits many plants and animals that need this environment to live and thrive. Orchids and various species of lichens grow in the reserve. The open bog is dominated by heather, bell heather, hare’s-tail cottongrass, and tussock sedge, and one can find small sedges. The goshawk nests in Svartebro.
