Ryssbysjön och Stensjön runt

Bike around the lakes and explore a beautiful landscape with a rich cultural heritage.
The trail mainly runs on less busy roads and country roads.

Start your journey at Ryssby church. Here you will find a rune stone
from the 1150s, which used
to be a part of the church wall. Your bike ride will take you to
forgotten remains and marvellous sights, a perfect way to learn more about the
life of those who came before us. You will also be biking through the land of
legends and the legendary place Sankta Birte källa is located just a few steps
away from the church . Follow the path south towards the swimming beach. You
will also pass a number of graveyards and the rune stone Tuna.

After approximately 4 kilometres, you will cross a larger road and turn
left towards Agunnaryd. As you continue, you will pass a few farms and memories
of the past. After another 9 kilometres you will reach Agunnaryd and continue
towards Vislanda. “Holmens kanotrastplats”, located by an old arched bridge,
is the perfect spot for a break. Turn towards Ryssbyholm, then follow the signs
for Sverigeleden all the way back to Ryssby. You will pass Rydrasta, a simple
resting area with picnic tables by the pond. You can also visit the
legendary place in Nockarp and learn more about the old troll forge . After
a few kilometres, you will pass Björkerås crossroads along the beautiful
shoreline of the lake Stensjön. Once you are back at the larger road, turn
right towards Vislanda and follow the signs for Sverigeleden until you see the
sign for Ryssby. The road will lead you back to Ryssby. Follow the signs for
Banvallsleden after you pass Ryssbygymnasiet towards the outdoor gym. Thereafter,
turn right towards the street Storgatan and follow the signs for Sverigeleden
back to the church. You can also stop by at Ryssby Garveri . The old
tannery.
