Musön

Latest sound measurement 2020-05-11: Average values between 32-40 dB (A). A little wave, light breeze in the trees, some boats in the distance. Some tips during the visit:
Stay offline - turn off the phone silently and be off when visiting the forest.
Value the moment - release all everyday thoughts to be present here and now.
Walk slowly - slow in and walk slower than normal on the path out here.
Listen - nature is almost never completely silent, and its sound often has a restful effect.
Smell and feel - each forest has its own scents, which change with the season and weather. Feel the rough bark or the soft moss.

Quiet locations in an area mean that the experience of desirable sounds strongly outweighs the impact of disturbing noise. In quiet places, at least 80 % of the visitors in an area after the visit should consider that they have experienced a good sound environment lower than 45 dB (A). Here one can be surrounded by nature's own sounds; such as the waves from the lake, a breeze in the foliage or bird song. There are several quiet places around Växjö town that are marked in the nature map. The city sounds are always present, but relatively quiet places are still close by. Wind strength, weather, season and time of day affect how the quiet places are experienced in the moment.

Musön is located north of Hissö and is part of the nature reserve.

You are welcome to visit the nature reserve, but please note that it is not allowed to:

1. damage natural objects or surface formations, for example by digging, drilling, painting or chiseling
2. cut down or otherwise damage living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
3. picking, damaging or digging up herbs, fungi, mosses, lichens or other plants, other than picking individual specimens of nonprotected species. Berries and edible mushrooms may be picked for domestic use
4. collect insects, shells, worms or other invertebrates, other than single specimens of nonprotected species
5. drive or park a motorized vehicle or trailer other than on a designated road and in a designated parking space
6. park or set up a caravan, motorhome or similar between 00.00 and 05.00.
7. make a fire other than in a designated and prepared fireplace
8. put up a board, sign, poster, string, art object or similar without the County Administrative Board's approval
9. conduct competitions, exercises or camps without the approval of the County Administrative Board
10. camp other than on a designated and prepared campsite
11. anchor or moor a houseboat
12. disturb or damage wildlife, for example, by approaching a nest or playground
13. bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet, except at a dog bathing area
14. take off or land an aircraft on land or water
15. bring in or use a jet ski (use of jet skis is permitted for sea rescue or other socially useful purposes)

The regulations do not prevent:

• Normal maintenance and minor improvements to the road area. Trees that have fallen or rough branches cut during maintenance must be moved within the nature reserve.
• Measures for scientific research approved in advance by the County Administrative Board
