Beskrivelse
The most north-western part of Helgö Island was formed when the glaciers receded. Walk along Stora Jägareås Ridge, and you'll be reminded of forces that were set in motion 10,000 years ago. When the melted snow rushed forward together with stones, sand and gravel, the Växjöåsen Ridge was formed. The long, narrow boulder ridge follows Lake Helgasjön from Åby in the north to Evedal in the south. Sometimes, the backbone of the ridge is visible, and sometimes it's hidden below the surface of the water. At Stora Jägareås Ridge, the large pines follow the trail toward Jägaregap , which forms a sound stretching toward Lilla Jägareås island. On the promontory, you can often see black-throated divers and ospreys, sometimes also with migrating birds. In winter, it is exciting to explore the islands with skates and skis. Stora Jägareås is located on northeastern Helgö and can be reached by car from Öjaby or Växjö Airport.

You are welcome to visit the nature reserve, but please note that it is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle,
- camping,
- make fires,
- disturb wildlife, for example by climbing trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 m to a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot,
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing and fallen trees and bushes
- picking or digging up plants or parts of plants, except for picking berries and edible mushrooms
- collect insects, crustaceans, shells, or other lower animals
- bring unleashed dogs or other pets,
- put up a board, poster, poster, sign, or make an inscription
- set up a motor vehicle, caravan or trailer
- mark out tracks or organize an orientation check.
Other legislation on what you are allowed to do in the forest and land also applies in the nature reserve.
