Beskrivelse

Issjöa Mission House in Ljungby Municipality is the first free church in Småland built by a Baptist congregation, during the years 1859–1860. In 2022, the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg decided to declare the mission house a historic building.

Issjöa Mission House is a genuine example of a simple and well-preserved rural free church with many preserved original details. The small scale, the modest exterior, and the carefully executed interior show how a small congregation with limited resources managed to realize the dream of having their own free church.

The history of Issjöa Mission House and the Baptist congregation is one of the few examples in the country from the time when the free church movement gained momentum in Sweden.
