Gavlö swimming area is located next to Lake Bolmen and has become a meeting place for swimmers, boaters and those who want to barbecue. The water is shallow and the swimming area is child-friendly with a jetty, playground, toilets and changing rooms.

Barbecue pavilion:

There is a barbecue pavilion with a roof and benches around the firepit. It’s perfect for cosying up in summer and during the rest of the year. Bring your own firewood and something to light it.

Boat ramp:

At Gavlö there is a public boat ramp with many uses and plenty of parking spaces. There is also a ramp to help those with disabilities.

We sometimes advise against swimming in certain lakes as the water can be unfit for various reasons. Get updates at kommun.varnamo.se.

From Värnamo, take road 27 towards Göteborg/Varberg. Take road 27 for about 14 km to Forsheda, turn left towards Storgatan and then turn left towards Brogatan/Dannäsvägen. Follow Dannäsvägen and drive straight ahead for a long stretch until you reach Dannäs. At the T-junction in Dannäs, turn right and continue straight ahead for a long stretch. Then, turn right by a small road (it should be signposted for the swimming area).
