Tullahängen

In the 17th century there was a customs station at Tullahängen that marked the border between Sweden and Denmark. The site has been cleared and fenced in with old-fashioned fencing. A barbecue area has also been created.

When Gustav Wasa ruled in the early 1500s, he was in great need of money. He introduced a number of taxes that mainly affected the common people. One tax or fee that particularly annoyed the people of south-eastern Småland was the customs duty on cattle sales, which for decades had been carried out mainly in Ronneby. Right next to Tullahängen is a beautiful cycling and hiking trail.
