Handlinger

Beskrivelse

At Lövö you can experience a genuine archipelago environment. The well-preserved village is surrounded by an old-fashioned agricultural landscape. In the south you wander through beautiful pastures with pollarded trees. And where the sea meets the land, flower-rich beach meadows spread out. You will meet grazing sheep and cows along the trails here.

What's new in the reserve in 2025

The county administrative board's budget for nature conservation and outdoor life sometimes changes and right now we have less money to allocate. The priority is then to manage our natural values in the first place and outdoor recreation facilities in the second place. As a result, this year we are closing a number of toilets in reserves and removing waste bins in several protected areas in the county.

On Lövö, waste management will cease.

Get out and enjoy!

On Lövö it is never far to the sea! In the nature reserve you therefore have great opportunities for swimming, for example at the ford between the mainland and Brönnsö. There are also plenty of outdoor facilities, such as several hiking trails in the southern parts of the reserve. Parts of Lövö are grazed by animals for much of the year. In several places there are therefore crossings in the form of stiles, so that you can get around the area unhindered. Don't miss visiting the village, where there are beautiful and culturally interesting buildings.

Trees with cultural history

The pastures in the south are home to lime trees with a special appearance. Their branches are dense and candelabra-like, and their trunks are rough and gnarled, often with hollows. These trees have been pollarded. Pollarding involves cutting and harvesting branches and twigs in certain years. In the past, the purpose of pollarding was to supplement the cattle's feed. Many trees on Lövö have been pollarded for a long time. Within the framework of the nature reserve's management, new, younger trees are also felled to preserve the tradition.

Old cultivated landscape

The people of Lövö have traditionally made a living from farming and fishing. The meadows south of the village were harvested for hay to feed the cattle in winter. Meadows on the islands of Bredskär, Bjurskär and Långskär were also mown. On the other islands, the animals went to summer grazing. In order to preserve the open landscape, grazing animals now cover large parts of the nature reserve and the fields are cultivated.

Hiking trails and visitor information

Remember to keep your dog on a lead at all times - there are grazing animals in the fields throughout the season.

There are four hiking trails in the reserve;

Jösholmsstigen 1 km

Applenabben 0.7 km

Lövögrenar 1.3 km

Lövö round 2.7 km

There are nice places to swim on Brönnsö and at the campsite at Puttudden. Brönnsö can be reached via a ford.

There are campsites at Lövögrenar, inside Puttudden and at Grenleudd.

There are fireplaces at the campsites and on Brönnsö.

Accessible toilets are available at the northern parking lot. Simple dry toilets are available at the southern parking lot, at the tent sites and on Brönnsö.
