**In Hulthorva, it has been a tradition to set up and light a charcoal kiln, a kind of kiln that heats wood with limited oxygen supply and thus produces charcoal.

During the cultural day in Hulthorva, the mila is filled with 30-35 cubic meters of hardwood to then be lit and burned for 4-5 days to charcoal. Once the mila is lit, the air duct is sealed and then regulated from the bottom of the mila. It is a bit of an art to keep the fire at the right level so as not to risk the whole mila catching fire. This requires round-the-clock monitoring.

During the cultural day, you can buy a bag of locally made charcoal of the highest quality.
