Karumleden - lantlig idyll omgiven av förhistoriska fornminnen

The Karum Trail takes you through an idyllic agricultural landscape surrounded by stories from bygone times. Just off the well-kept paths there are many prehistoric remains to discover. The main trail is just under 3 km long, with no direct elevation changes, but offers several different trails to follow. Divide the trail into stages or take the opportunity to explore the whole area. If you follow the trail east, you will soon reach a picnic area with tables and benches made of beautiful limestone. There are also covered information boards with stories about the area's small-scale agricultural landscape through the ages. At the northernmost part of the trail you will find a footpath into the beautiful Västra Ängs nature reserve, but this section is not signposted. Enjoy the deciduous forest, meadows and moss-covered stone fences of Mittlandsskog.

Tip: Fill your picnic basket with local delicacies from Öland's many farm shops and food producers, enjoy a break in true Öland spirit! Also take the opportunity to visit the mighty burial ground just before the start of Karumleden, here is parking and information signs. The burial ground consists of around 70 differently shaped graves from the Bronze Age and Pre-Roman Iron Age. The magnificent ship Noah's Ark also rests on the burial ground!
