Hultsfreds slätt

The first time the Kalmar Regiment practiced on the Hultsfred plain was in 1685. The regiment was moved to Hultsfred in 1796 and remained there for 122 years, until 1918, when it was moved to Eksjö.

The soldiers were initially housed in tents. However, the small number of buildings that existed soon expanded and at most there were over 60 houses on the plain. Several of these buildings still exist today, as well as trenches and entrenchments. The history can be experienced through a marked hiking trail.

In the association house there are three exhibitions about Hultsfred in the 1950s, and Forskarstugan. There you can get help with genealogy and research on Hultsfred's history, for example the Kalmar Regiment on Hultsfred Slätt, including soldiers and old maps.

In the building with the provisions store, which was previously known as the pork store, there is now Rätt & Slätt - an exhibition about life on the Hultsfred plain.

An eight-ton memorial stone, surrounded by eight stones, one for each company during the Indelta period, stands at the Fläskförrådet.
