Beskrivelse
Take a trip along the East Coast Trail or explore along narrow paths. Walk in the deep forest over logs and stones. See traces of farmer's labor and hear the forest's rustle and birdsong. Get to know unusual lichens, fungi and mosses. For those who take the time, there is much to discover in the Figeholm nature reserve!
Old outfield
The Figeholm nature reserve includes deciduous woodlands that used to be "outlying land" to the villages of Släthult, Stora Fighult, Lilla Fighult and Högskulla. It was common land where cattle were grazed and where firewood and timber were collected. It also happened that meadows were mown or fields were cultivated on the outfield. Branches were cut from the deciduous trees (pollarding), which became fodder for the grazing animals during the winter.
Traces of the past
Even today, you can find old fields and meadows interspersed in the forest. There are plenty of pollarded trees, including lime, ash and maple. Most of them are at Lilla Fighult, but they also occur in several other places. Other traces of the past include the remains of a dance floor, house foundations and the remains of dams.
Old forest and key biotopes
Where the terrain is steep or large boulders, the trees have long been spared from axe and saw. There are plenty of large trees and dead wood, which gives a primeval forest-like impression. The forest is rich in key biotopes. These are environments where red-listed species (= species at risk of extinction) may occur. Some examples of unusual species that occur are western kidney lichen, leather patch lichen, beech feather moss and candelabra fungus.

The reserve is most easily reached via Figeholm village, but can also be accessed from the road between Fårbo and Simpevarp.
Forskrifter
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Drive any vehicle or craft.
- Park a vehicle, caravan or trailer in a place other than designated parking spaces.
- Drive or land low-flying aircraft.
- Deliberately disturbing wildlife.
- Bringing a dog or other animal that is not on a leash.
- erecting a board, sign, poster or similar device or making inscriptions
- Make a fire anywhere other than in specially designated places.
- Picking or damaging mosses, lichens or wood fungi.
- digging up or pulling up plants or parts of plants by their roots
- Damage or remove trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or reeds that are growing or dead.
After consultation with the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Conduct survey or research.
- Set traps to collect insects.
- Carry out commercial activities.
- Use the area for competitions, exercises or other events.
If you have been granted permission by the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Camp.
Full regulations
C. Regulations according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code on the right to travel and stay in the reserve and on order in general.
In addition to what otherwise applies, it is prohibited to:
- drive any kind of vehicle or craft.
- set up motor vehicles, caravans or trailers (unless special roads and places are designated in the established management plan)
- camping without the permission of the County Administrative Board
- fly low-flying aircraft or land with aircraft.
- Disturbing wildlife.
- bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet
- erecting a board, sign, placard, poster or similar device or making an inscription
- Build a fire (unless specific locations are designated in the established management plan).
- Pick or damage wood fungi, mosses or lichens.
- Digging or pulling up plants or plant parts by the roots.
- Damage or remove growing or dead trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or reeds.
- Without consultation with the County Administrative Board, carry out collection, investigation or research.
- Without consultation with the County Administrative Board sell goods or services.
- Without consultation with the County Administrative Board, use the area for competition or exercise purposes or for other events.
The points under C do not apply to landowners or holders of special rights.
