Beskrivelse
East of Valdshult in the northern part of the municipality is Svinhultsåsen - the municipality's smallest nature reserve. The area, which is just under 2 hectares in size, consists of a rocky outcrop with a surrounding spruce forest. The reserve was established in 1970 to protect nesting barn owls. Mountain owls no longer nest on Svinhultsåsen - but ravens do. However, it is hoped that the barn owl will return.
The woodland consists of tall spruce, large pine trees, bilberry, silver birch and several species of sedge. Some birch and rowan also grow on the slopes. Mosses dominate on the ground. Unusual woodland fungi and the rare orchid spiderwort occur in the area.

Forskrifter
Within the nature reserve it is forbidden to
- during the period February 1 - August 15, stay in the reserve except for direct passage through the area on the footpath that runs in a north-south direction about 10 meters from the lake shore
- destroying or damaging fixed natural objects or lying or standing dead trees or bushes or parts of trees or bushes
- collect invertebrates with traps that kill
- permanently erecting a board, sign, inscription, poster or similar device.
Measures for scientific research or the equivalent for which a permit has been obtained from the County Administrative Board are excluded from the regulations.
