Kaxholmen - Ölmstad, Franciskusleden, St. Birgitta Ways

This stage
mostly follows gravel roads through varied landscapes. A small part (after
Bäckanäs) runs along a busy road, so be careful.

St.
Birgitta Ways runs here along the Franciscan Trail and the Biosphere Trail,
passing through a rolling landscape with orchards reminiscent of Provence. From
Kaxholmen, you have two options. You can either continue along the country road
by the football fields toward Lyckås and turn right there, or you can go right
up onto the heights via Kaxholmen's deciduous forest and Jordstorp.

After
Skärstad in Flättinge, there is a nice summer café and lunch spot. Shortly
after that, Björn and Inga, who are very involved in the Franciscan Trail, live
nearby. They are happy to welcome you if they are at home. If you choose to
stay overnight in the fantastic Franciscan Cottage at Wettershus, continue a
bit further after Ölmstad. But keep in mind that you need to bring your own
food. There is a store in Ölmstad.

Biosphere
Reserve "Eastern Vätterbranterna" - one of five biosphere reserves in Sweden.
