Beskrivelse
Fryele Church was
built between 1788 and 1792 according to drawings by the achitect Thure
Winberg. The church was consecrated in 1795, replacing an older church from the
Middle Ages.
It is a single-nave
hall church with a rectangular nave and a three-sided sanctuary to the east and
a steeple and main entrance to the west. The sacristy is on the north side. The
nave has a steep gabled roof clad with black-painted sheet metal, while the top
of the steeple is clad with tarred shingle. The top of the steeple is bell-shaped
with an open lantern clad with sheet metal. The façades are smooth-plastered in white.
The
interior is distinguished by the simple and light interiors of neoclassicism. A
retable with an altarpiece by Jonas Berggren from 1795 depicting Jesus in
Gethsemane dominates the choir. In the interior of the church, there are
fixtures from the older church. A granite christening font and triumphal
crucifix both date from the 1200s.
