Beskrivelse

The present church was built in 1840-1855, and consecrated on October 10, 1858.

The master builder was Johan Nordell from Los. The actual construction was carried out by tax farmers who were responsible for the supply and processing of the necessary wood. The church's background painting is a unique work of art for the region. The church contains some old objects from the two previous churches.

Tradition has it that there was a church in Tännäs as early as the 15th century. The first time Tännäs appears in the records is in 1407. It tells of a stave church that stood here. A chapel stood on this site in 1672. In the same year, vicar Hinrik Olofsson-Drake consecrated a new church on this site. When the new church was built, the wooden church from 1672 was sold for firewood. The remains of the foundation are probably preserved underground in the churchyard, slightly south of the present church.

In 1984, the church underwent a thorough renovation when the original colors were brought out. These had been painted over in 1958.
