Beskrivelse
Here, you can see ruffed grouse playing, hear curlews "drilling" and mallards chattering. Since 1975, Lake Svedjesjön has been a bird protection area. That is, an area where many different birds like to rest and nest, which is forbidden to enter between March 15 and August 15.
Now that Svedjesjön has become a nature reserve, the surrounding wetlands and ancient forest are also included. Svedjesjön Nature Reserve is easy to get to. It is located 15 km from Östersund.
The entire nature reserve is located in an area with a lot of lime in the soil. Svedjesjön itself has a light-colored bottom of lime sand and the surrounding almost plant-free areas consist of lime clay, known as bleke.

Kör över Frösöbron, sväng vänster och kör vidare över Vallsundsbron. Sväng höger och kör cirka 4,7 kilometer till Målsta. Sväng vänster mot Rödmyren och Gilleråsen och följ vägen cirka 7 kilometer. Nu är du framme vid naturreservatets parkering som ligger på vänster sida om vägen och delas med Rödmyrmyrens naturreservat.

Welcome to Svedjesjön. Keep in mind that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- travel or stay in the area with a trespassing ban, marked on the map, Appendix 1, during the period March 15 to August 15 each year,
- bring an unleashed dog or cat into the nature reserve during the period March 15 to August 15 each year,
- picking and collecting species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
