Beskrivelse
The nature reserve is divided into two parts. An eastern and a western part. In both areas you get to experience old spruce forest.
In both areas there are trails that you can hike on. There is a nature trail that Strömsund municipality and the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation have cleared and signposted. It starts at the campsite in Näsviken and goes through the nature reserve and further south.
It is on the old spruces, even the dead ones, that the great natural values are found. Rare wood fungi that need old dead spruces to exist at all. You can find wood fungi with names such as black tick, violet mussel and rose tick.

You can walk or cycle to the nature reserve from Strömsund, as the eastern part of the nature reserve is only three kilometers southwest of Strömsund church. If you choose to drive, follow the E45 from Strömsund south for about two kilometers and then turn right onto road 339. Follow the road for about six kilometers and you will reach the western part of the nature reserve.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Per-Johansabodarna. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of any kind, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make a fire, other than with firewood brought in.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is forbidden to:
- carry out scientific studies involving the collection of species or having any other impact on the natural environment.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
