Beskrivelse
Primeval forests, bare mountains, unregulated lakes and fresh watercourses coexist in the reserve. The lake- and mire-rich mountain area consists of the Hotagsfjällen mountains and parts of the surrounding forest areas.

Veibeskrivelse
Several roads lead into the reserve. Turn right from road 340 after Valsjöbyn to Vinklumpen, or turn off towards Lakavattnet from road 339 less than a mile east of Laxsjö. The northern parts of the reserve are best reached from road 342 between Strömsund and Gäddede, turn south at Bågede and follow the road towards Munsvattnet.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Hotagen. Please note that in the reserve it is not allowed to:
- climbing trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot
- damage the ground or vegetation, including dry trees and windfalls
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road. Certain exceptions for, among other things, trails are stated in the county administrative board's off-road traffic ordinance
- land with an aircraft without the county administrative board's permission.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
