Beskrivelse
Gönhammaren nature reserve consists of a small mountain ridge with two peaks. Mostly pine forest grows in the area, but there are also marshlands and a number of small lakes. From the top of the mountain you can get a nice view of the lakes and the surrounding forests. The view and the lakes offer great nature experiences. The area is located 11 kilometers west of Tandsjöborg in Orsa Finnmark and covers 30 hectares. Gönhammar's biological values are mainly found in the really old pines with coarse branches and sparse crowns, many with traces of previous forest fires.
The pines are around 150 to 200 years old.
Carbon lichen thrives here
The reserve is home to species associated with pines and some with fire-affected trees, such as the coal lichen. The coal lichen only grows on charred wood in old fire fields. For such species to survive, parts of the forest need to burn occasionally.
Gönhammaren is located in Orsa Finnmark, an area where Finnish immigration was large in the 17th century. Here they lived on swidden farming and cattle herding with forest grazing.

The nature reserve is located about 11 kilometers west of Tandsjöborg in Orsa Finnmark.
Forskrifter
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- take firewood. Firing is only permitted if you have brought your own firewood
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damage, pick or collect plants and fungi
- climbing trees, being near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife
- bringing an off-leash dog or other unleashed pet
- putting up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or inscription
- damaging any fixed object or surface formation such as moving or removing stones
