Sommarlust och Folkparken

As early as the 1860s, young Halmstad residents went to Furet to play the violin and dance, and soon there were restaurants and attractions such as a carousel and a swing. In 1900, the Dane C A Freckman developed the area by starting Sommarlust, which offered visitors activities such as concerts and folk dancing. He also built athletics tracks and a football pitch. The area was Halmstad's most popular sports facility until 1922 when Örjans Vall was opened. In 1927, the amusement park was bought by Föreningen Folkets Park, which renamed it Folkparken and received over 80,000 visitors in its first year.
