Beskrivelse
Efter att en brand härjat i området kring Skårebo beslutades att bilda ett naturreservat här. Detta för att bevara skogsbrandfältet och ädellövskogen intill med dess rödlistade arter. Reservatet ligger inklämt mellan de tre byarna Långhult, Kullhult och Skårebo. Här finns inga markerade leder men skogen är gles och lätt att ströva i.
Branden ägde rum i april 2008 och hann sprida sig över cirka 44 hektar innan den släcktes. Branden gick fram över en skogsmyrmosaik med lövskogar, blandskogar och våtmarker. Den orsakade bland annat skador i ett bestånd av medelålders ek och i flera grankulturer, och många träd dog.

Forskrifter
To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.
In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:
- Damage living or dead standing or lying trees and bushes,
- damaging, picking or collecting plants, such as herbs, mosses or lichens. However, picking berries or edible mushrooms is permitted,
- collect insects, spiders, shells and other invertebrates without the permission of the County Administrative Board. However, individual specimens may be collected provided that it does not violate the conservation regulations and that traps are not used,
- planting plant or animal species alien to the area,
- organize camps or competitions without the permission of the County Administrative Board,
- put up a board, poster, sign or make an inscription,
- drive a motorized vehicle other than on a road or park other than in a designated place,
- bring an unleashed dog and
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, conduct scientific studies that contravene the regulations.
