Beskrivelse
The forest in Råmebo nature reserve consists partly of beech forest, where the oldest beech is over 300 years old, and partly of a mixed forest with beech, pine and other deciduous trees. The oldest beech forest has been untouched for a long time. The ground under the beech trees is covered with last year's leaves, but here and there blueberries, squirrels, wood anemones and sorrel grow.
The forest is very valuable and is home to many unusual species. The reserve is a fine hiking area that can be visited all year round. The forests are beautiful and easy to walk in. The terrain in the reserve is slightly hilly and the ground is damp in the hollows. There are no marked paths or trails.
Plenty of dead wood
There is plenty of dead wood in the area, both in the form of standing trees (dry bark) and fallen trees (flames). Many rare forest species are dependent on dead wood. The wood is broken down by various fungi, which makes it easier for insect species that use the wood in different ways. The insects in turn attract birds, which search for food in the decaying wood.
Yellow flowers on the bog
Moist streams cross the reserve and here and there are small open bogs. The marsh lily grows here and blooms in high summer with bright yellow flowers in a long, dense cluster.
Lichen look different
Lichens are divided into three different groups depending on how they look. Leaf lichens and shrub lichens grow out from the substrate, unlike crustose lichens, which grow flat against the substrate. A magnifying glass is therefore usually needed to distinguish different lichens from each other.
Tree-dwelling lichens and mosses as well as wood-dwelling fungi and insects (mainly beetles) make up the majority of the 26 red-listed species known to date. Bird life is rich and typical of older beech forests, including wood pigeon, buzzard, lesser spotted woodpecker and skylark.

Råmebo is located in Halmstad municipality. Directions: The nature reserve is located directly east of the road between Oskarström and Simlångsdalen. From highway 25 in Simlångsdalen take the turnoff towards "Oskarström". After about 6 kilometers you will find the reserve and a parking lot on the right side of the road. From Oskarström the distance to Råmebo is about 9 kilometers.GPS (WGS84): Lat N 56° 45' 39" Lon E 13° 6' 43".
Forskrifter
To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.
In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:
- damage living or dead standing or lying trees and bushes,
- damage, pick or collect mosses, lichens or fungi other than single specimens. The prohibition does not apply to the picking of edible mushrooms.
- drive a motorized vehicle other than on a road and park other than in a designated place,
- making fires, and
- put up a board, poster, sign or make an inscription.
- organize camps, competitions or events without the permission of the County Administrative Board,
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, carry out scientific studies that involve marking, collecting, trapping or other impact on the natural environment
- use traps that kill invertebrates without the permission of the County Administrative Board, and
- planting species alien to the area without the permission of the County Administrative Board.
