Kirsten Munk's house has nothing to do with the noblewoman Kirsten Munk, the legitimate 'concubine' of the Danish King Christian IV and mother of a dozen children by the King. The builder of this house was the mayor of Halmstad, Albrekt Pedersen Mackum. The house was built shortly after the town fire in 1619 from imported Dutch bricks and is the only house of its kind in Sweden from that time. Perhaps the eye-catching glazed façade has fueled fantasies about Kirsten Munk?
