Tjuls station järnvägsmuseum

Tjul station is a small railway museum that shows the working and living environment of the stationmaster and his family. The station house and outbuildings were built in 1898 when the railway line between Klintehamn and Roma was built and are preserved in almost original condition. In the station area, there is a piece of rail where a freight car and a beet wagon are set up. The freight car contains examples of what was transported.

In addition to handling arriving and departing trains, the family grew their own food and had a cow, pig and some chickens. In other words, self-sufficiency,

Hard work for sure but also peace and quiet. Here you can experience what it is like to be unplugged and disconnected. No electricity, no electronics.

There is also a bit of history about what happened when the railway was closed down and how the station was preserved thanks to Eskelhem resident Gunnar Ahlström. The Tjuls station cultural foundation was formed in 2013 and the property is a cultural monument since September 2021.

There are ticket cabinets and a register of departing/arriving goods in the dispatch office. The station manager's other tools; telephone, lantern, flag etc.

The living area consists of a room and kitchen. Some of the furniture was left in the house, others have been acquired to create as authentic an environment as possible. There is also a laundry room, attic and attic room.

In the barn there was room for a cow, pig and chickens. There are also three outhouses for traveling women and men and for the stationmaster and his family.
