Södra Tofta Strandleden

The well-known Tofta Strand stretches from Gnisvärd's fishing village in the north to Snåltorps Nature Reserve in the south and offers beautiful, species-rich beach heaths, a lovely white sandy beach and areas with shingle.

Many people like to walk along the beach, either in one direction direction or in a round trip. The idea of the two hiking trails is for more people to discover more of the area outside the beach area, such as paths, roads and Smågårde Naturskog. The loops also provide an alternative to going back the same way, especially when the weather at the sea feels rough.

Both routes start at Tofta baths' large parking lot. The yellow/white loop goes north along the beach and back via Gnisvärds fishing village and Smågårde Naturskog and is about 6 km long. The green/white green/white loop goes south along the beach and back further inland and is about 9 km long. The loops are designed so that they can be easily accessed from various accommodation facilities. In the vicinity of the loops there are also services such as toilets, restaurants and cafés.

The hope is to eventually create more hiking and biking trails within the parish. There are ideas about linking different hikes on Gotland into a network that covers the whole island.
