The limestone industry on Gotland is portrayed in the limestone museum and visitors get a unique insight into the lives and conditions of the workers. A whole section tells about the lives of women and families, another shows George Moberg's famous sculptures. There is also the consumer shop as it looked when the lime works were in operation.

Take a tour of the kilns in the museum, where you can experience the work of burning and transporting the stone. The transportation of quicklime could be deadly for a skipper. Burnt slaked lime becomes explosive if it comes into contact with water.
